Mike Leonard is the CEO of the Building Alliance and Visiting Professor, Manufacturing and the Built Environment, Birmingham City University (BCU)
 
Mike has over 40 years senior leadership experience in building product manufacturing and housing and is the CEO of the Building Alliance and founder of the Get Britain Building campaign. Mike sits on the Governments passive fire group and is Chair the West Midlands Social Housing Group and Birmingham Housing Week.
 
He is currently delivering primary research to support the transition to net zero, ensuring resilience in the built environment and frequently speaks at conferences and publishes material to shape future policy.
 
A leader in the Birmingham City University “Centre for Future Homes” researching the Future Homes Standard through active Demonstrators, preventing overheating, enhancing indoor air quality, addressing the fire risk, reducing the use of single life plastics, decarbonising the built environment, and embracing the skills gap.
 
In a period of unprecedented change, Mike believes that it is critical that we put customers at the heart of the journey and avoid unintended consequences.

Centre for Future Homes

Led by Mike Leonard. Birmingham City University’s Centre for Future Homes helps organisations explore robust, scalable, and sustainable solutions to meet the challenges of the Housing Industry using academic research based on data and customer insights.

By utilising evaluating models and design tools, the Centre provides sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
 
The Centre for Future Homes is focused on new build and retrofit and has recent launched a Learning Hub in Birmingham to showcase the research outcomes and technology associated with the transition to low carbon homes and building safety. This facility will be used to deliver regular CPD to the wider industry.
